Community Legal Service Direct

A4e has joined forces with Howell’s – The Citizens Solicitor, to deliver Community Legal Service Direct a telephone based, legal advice service . The service is funded by legal aid so it is available completely free of charge to callers who live on a low income or benefits. It enables people to access professional, confidential legal advice on issues such as debt, welfare benefits and tax credits, housing, employment and education problems.

A4e strongly believes that a vital part of tackling social exclusion is to make services as accessible as possible and this telephone service will ensure that people can easily access the support they need.

As one of 7 specialist providers, A4e and Howells expect to receive over 30,000 calls in the first year alone and have recruited and trained over 40 professional advisors who will deliver the service from a dedicated contact centre based in Sheffield.
