A4e began delivering an employment support service in Gelsenkirchen in September 2006. The programme enables people in the region to gain the skills that they need to return to work, while A4e also helps its clients to source suitable employment opportunities through strong partnership links with local employers.
Since commencing deliver, the success of the programme has seen A4e awarded a number of other employment and training contracts. It expanded its services in Gelsenkirchen to include targetted support for unemployed people above the age of 50 and also was awarded a contract that saw it open a new office in Alsdorf. A4e's approach to helping people back into work has been radically different to existing employment programmes, with the ethos of improving people's lives being particularly successful. In September 2007, A4e has enabled 200 people to successfully return to work in Germany.
